After months of prepration and design review the Logan
Heights Historical Society along with Barrio Station and the Port of San
Diego decided on 12 murals to picture the rich cultural mix that was Barrio Logan in the 1920's through the
50's. Thanks to the hard work of these dedicated people many can take a new pride in their rich heritage and their neighborhood!
As newspapers and TV cameras looked on, Logan Heigths
Historical Society members, city and county officials cut the ribbon to celebrate the new addition to the Ceasar Chavez Park.

Tile setters form Wirtz Tile installed all the murals using
setting materials donated by our friends at Laticrete International. Because it must hold up to the harsh seaside conditions special care had to be taken to pick the right setting

| Picking out friends and relatives |
The mural of the San Diego Packing Co., circa 1948, is of great interest to many of the
park patrons. Employed at the cannery were mostly Mexican American and Japanese American workers. This rich blend of cultures
has made Barrio Logan what it is today.
